ClayToCode is more than a website – it’s a documented journey of reclaiming purpose, independence, and hands-on skill in a world that’s moving fast in the opposite direction.
I started this project as a way to merge my technical knowledge with my desire to build a life moving forward that’s grounded in faith, self-sufficiency, and stewardship. It’s about learning, doing, and sharing without pretense or polish, all while building something real from the ground up, whether that is in the real world or within the digital realm.
From cultivating ideas, creating digital or conventional art like sculpting clay, to carving out a self-sustaining homestead and designing off-grid systems and building digital tools, ClayToCode is an open invitation to you to follow along as I take ideas from raw thought to working reality.
This platform exists to:
- Live the remainder of my life to its fullest potential and share as much as I can about what I’ve learned along the way
- Document the process (warts and all) of building an off-grid life and realizing a 21-acre homestead
- Share skills that range from plowing the earth to finishing drywall to writing a book to building the ClayToCode platform and exploring the role of AI and modern tools, and the potential dangers and concerns, in helping real humans build real things
- Showcase the power of our God-given practical independence through solar, rainwater harvesting, passive heating, old-school work ethic and simple perseverance
- Encourage others who want to opt out of dependence and get back to the essentials: faith, family, skill, discipline, and community
This isn’t a lifestyle brand or an influencer project, It’s a record of what it actually takes me to design and build the remainder of a life here on earth, not just a living – and hopefully a better opportunity for my kids and grandchildren when I’m directly “unreachable” in the near future – 🙂
I believe in merit over entitlement, truth over comfort, and action over theory. If that resonates with you, I hope you’ll follow along… or better yet, build alongside.
ClayToCode is about doing what matters – on purpose, and without compromise.
